Professor Ien Ang, the founding Director of CCR, is currently an ARC Professorial Fellow. She is one of the leaders in cultural studies worldwide, with interdisciplinary work spanning many areas of the humanities and social sciences. Professor Ang focuses especially on media and cultural consumption, including the study of media audiences, identity politics, nationalism and globalisation, migration and ethnicity, and issues of representation in contemporary cultural institutions.
She writes about contemporary Asia and the changing new world (dis)order, Australia-Asia relations, and issues of theory and methodology. As a prominent public commentator in Australia and a member of the Council of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, she is frequently called on for keynote addresses in Australia and internationally.
